Update February 27, 2025: Burn Ban Issued
At this time, due to the forecasted Red Flag Warning conditions on Friday, February 28, 2025, Fire Chief Mueller has issued a ban on approving any new open burn permits and authorization of existing permits effective today until Tuesday, March 18, 2025. This includes all burning within the City including use of fire pits. This excludes use of outdoor grilling, but please use caution when it is extremely windy.
Several conditions have been met and are listed as follows:
- Two agencies in Lancaster County have issued burn ban notices.
- Several agencies in Lancaster County have been responding to several grass fires in northern Lancaster County in the last 7 days.
Any open burn permits previously approved will be extended if expired before the applicant has received authorization to burn. Any new applicants can submit an application; however Waverly Fire & Rescue will not approve or authorize any burns until conditions have improved and the burn ban may be extended past the original stated duration.
