The first draft of the Traffic Study Data was presented at the Council Meeting on Tuesday, October 23rd.
None of the intersections where data was collected met a warrant for a traffic signal. A recommendation for a Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacon (RRFB) was given for one or possibly two locations. It was discussed to place one on Amberly Road and potentially one on N 148th St. No final locations have been determined.
Data also showed that the best location near the Waverly Intermediate School for a marked pedestrian crossing is at 145th and Heywood St. Currently, the marked crossing is at 146th and Heywood St.
Education and enforcement will always have the most impact and provide the best results. Cooperation between residents, schools, City, and law enforcement is the key piece to solving and preventing issues.
Working together, we will make Waverly a safe pedestrian community.
