Public Works Worker 1

-Assist with a variety of unskilled and skilled duties in the operation and maintenance of the streets, parks, swimming pool and cemetery.

-Operate light, medium and heavy-duty equipment

-Perform equipment maintenance and repair

-Able to perform heavy manual labor, regularly lift minimum of 50 pounds and occasionally lift in excess of 100 pounds

-Able to obtain Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)

**Commonly performed tasks:  repair streets, snow removal, mowing & trimming, water and waste water line repair & maintenance and other duties as assigned

**Rotating duty for weekend utility checks and stand-by calls

Building Inspector/Zoning Administrator

Performs skilled on-site inspections of building construction and repair work to assure compliance with building, plumbing, electrical and mechanical codes; implements and administers flood plain, zoning and subdivision regulation; coordinates and assists in the review of flood plain applications, subdivision plats, zoning amendments and comprehensive plan updates; responsible for periodic on-site observation of public infrastructure upgrades to ensure compliance with plans and specs; and performs other duties in the City as required.

Four-year college degree in Construction Management, engineering or similar construction training, or High School graduate/GED with equivalent training and work experience. Must be certified by International Code Council as one of the following: Building Inspector (Commercial or Residential), or Plan Examiner (Commercial or Residential) or be able to take a certification exam within six months from date of employment.

Summer Park Employees

The city of Waverly is looking for summer employees for the departments.  Wages are based on qualifications and experience.  Applications are available at the city hall and should be filed with the city clerk at 14130 Lancashire St. Waverly, NE 68462 by 4:30 p.m. on Friday, February 7, 2020. Park Department employees must at least be 18 years of age by the first day of employment.  BASEBALL & SOFTBALL UMPIRE POSITIONS

• Umpires are needed for our Recreational Leagues.
• Work Schedule: Games would be in May and June on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Pay is $25 to $40 per/game.
• Location: Various ball fields in Waverly

 Internship/Summer Job Opportunity

Position:     Ballpark Facility Supervisor

Primary Duties: Under the immediate supervision of the Parks and Recreation Director help with the daily operations of the facility. The student will be exposed to scheduling, event management, supervising, and facility maintenance.

Qualifications:  Possession of a valid driver’s license and means of transport. The individual should have strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Education:  Junior or Senior status majoring in Sports Management, Administration, Recreation, or Business. Applicants from other fields of study will be considered but preference will be given to those in the majors listed above.

Work Hours:  Full-time (approximately 20-30hrs per week). Will be required to work evenings and weekends. Employment period will be May through August. Employee pay will begin at $9.00 per/hr, experience may raise the wage.

 LIFEGUARD POSITION

The City of Waverly is seeking summer Lifeguards for the upcoming 2020 season. The lifeguard is responsible for providing a safe environment for all patrons of the pool by keeping order and by providing assistance to those in need. This seasonal position is compensated on an hourly basis. SALARY: $9-12 per/hr.

QUALIFICATIONS: Requires an individual who works well with people.
• Must possess lifeguard, first aid, and CPR certifications.
• Must be able to work varied days and hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Must be 15 years of age or older by May 2020.

DUTIES: * Monitors activities at the pool to prevent accidents. * Rescues swimmers in danger of drowning. * Administers First Aid. * Cautions swimmers regarding unsafe practices and safety hazards; enforces and adheres to pool rules and regulations. * Maintains order in the pool and adjoining areas. * Inspects facilities for cleanliness; completes general pool cleaning and maintenance duties. * Provides general information on pool operation to patrons.
