 Public Works Worker I

The City of Waverly is now hiring for a Public Works Worker 1 position, duties include maintenance of streets, asphalt and concrete repair, sign maintenance, vehicle and equipment repair,  street sweeping,  and snow removal. Other duties in maintenance of Rose Hill Cemetery including  string trimming, seeding, fertilizing, tree trimming, garbage removal and cleanup,  mowing and headstone maintenance.  Occasional work in water and wastewater including sewer jetting, water valve maintenance, and water main breaks.  This position is compensated on an hourly basis, including health insurance, and retirement benefits.  Position also rotates on an on-call emergency basis.    Pay scale for Public Works Worker 1 is $ 11.60 to $16.45

Qualifications:

Knowledge of street repair and maintenance, operation of heavy equipment, must be able to perform heavy manual labor, and lift a minimum of fifty pounds and occasionally lift in excess of one-hundred pounds, must be able to have or obtain a class B CDL license within six months of hire, and maintain an effective working relationship with employees and the public. Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug and physical ability testing, along with a criminal background check, must have a valid driver’s license.

Experience:  

High School education or equivalent and heavy equipment experience desired.

BASEBALL & SOFTBALL UMPIRE POSITIONS

• Umpires are needed for our Recreational Leagues.
• Work Schedule: Games would be in May and June on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Pay is $25 to $40 per/game.
• Location: Various ball fields in Waverly

Internship/Summer Job Opportunity 

Position:     Ballpark Facility Supervisor

Primary Duties: Under the immediate supervision of the Parks and Recreation Director help with the daily operations of the facility. The student will be exposed to scheduling, event management, supervising, and facility maintenance.

Qualifications:  Possession of a valid driver’s license and means of transport. Individual should have strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Education:  Junior or Senior status majoring in Sport Management, Administration, Recreation, or Business. Applicants from other fields of study will be considered but preference will be given to those in the majors listed above.

Work Hours:  Full time (approximately 30-40hrs per week). Will be required to work evenings and weekends. Employment period will be May through August. Employee pay will begin at $9.00 per/hr, experience may raise wage.

LIFEGUARD POSITION

The City of Waverly is seeking summer Lifeguards for the upcoming 2017 season. The lifeguard is responsible for providing a safe environment for all patrons of the pool by keeping order and by providing assistance to those in need. This seasonal position is compensated on an hourly basis. SALARY: $9-12 per/hr.

QUALIFICATIONS: Requires an individual who works well with people.
• Must possess lifeguard, first aid, and CPR certifications.
• Must be able to work varied days and hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Must be 15 years of age or older by May 2017.

DUTIES: * Monitors activities at the pool to prevent accidents. * Rescues swimmers in danger of drowning. * Administers First Aid. * Cautions swimmers regarding unsafe practices and safety hazards; enforces and adheres to pool rules and regulations. * Maintains order in the pool and adjoining areas. * Inspects facilities for cleanliness; completes general pool cleaning and maintenance duties. * Provides general information on pool operation to patrons.
